Q: ATT's new phones have GPS support designed to interact with the proprietary TeleNav Navigator software. This software comes with a 9.99/month pricetag for it's up-to-the-minute information on the fly. I want to know if there's shelf GPS software that

why dont you pay for one
Is there any free GPS software for Windows Mobile 6.1 that does not use an internet connection?
As noted in PCMag's Dell Streak preview , the Streak could be an interesting Web-browsing and movie-watching device, but it is in need of a major software upgrade.
Dell is now addressing these concerns via a new YouTube video in which Kevin Andrew, a business development advisor at Dell, shows the Dell Streak running smoothly with Android 2.1. Included are Dell's customizations, like its own touch keyboard, large home screen applications, custom Twitter and Facebook widgets, and a slightly altered Android app tray. What is unclear from the video is whether the Streak will launch with its current software or with Android 2.2.
After some hands-on time with the Streak in the PCMag Labs, mobile analyst Sascha Segan found that the device could not run top-of-the-line games, lacked enough GPS software options, and could only handle limited video formats. It also repeatedly dropped calls and had poor Microsoft Exchange support.
An upgrade to Android 2.2 would likely help these issues, and Andrew discussed Dell's intentions to upgrade to Android 2.2 (Froyo) sometime in the future. But as with most Android devices, an exact timeline was not given. What is encouraging, however, is that Dell is hard at work on upgrading the Streak's software in a timely fashion as speculation increases that a launch date is imminent.
What would the best GPS software be for a windows mobile 6.1 Samsung Omnia i900? I would prefer it to be free if possible.
I have a USB based GPS unit and a laptop. So rather than drop $1,000 on a marine GPS , I am hoping to find decent software and just bring the laptop out with me. Who makes good software for this? I am searching the internet but not finding a whole lot.
instead of risking you laptop, just with moisture alone, not to mention rain or splashing, I'd look at an inexpensive marine one. here is the excerpt from one of my previous posts:
