Q: I have an electronic device that takes 4 C batteries, Can I rig it up to run off of a 12 volt battery so I wont have to change the batteries as often? If so how?
A: You can try using rechargeable C batteries.
12V is too much. Assuming the batteries are in series, you need a 6V adaptor.
I've got all kinds of great stuff that takes AA, AAA, and D. What do you have that takes C batteries?

In school we are having these races with toy pigs and to get more voltage out of the two 1.5V C batteries, we want to reverse polarise the two C batteries to get to a 9V or 18V. Is there anyway we can do this?

Actually your question should be "How much energy is in a battery", and that is usually in mA-hours. Note the mA-hour rating is not actually energy, but a measure of energy. Multiply the ma-hour rating by the voltage (usually 1.5v) to get the
